For those of you who are not in the loop about Twitter, heres a quick recap… Twitter is a worldwide social networking-blogging service. Twitter allows you the opportunity to stay connected, through tweets.  Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Updates are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. 

Now for the most part, twitter has allowed foodies, like myself to discuss and report all our food related issues, such as new posts, recipes, restaurant reviews, and the sharing of tid-bits between other foodie blogs.  But the big craze has been the new thing where food bloggers are tweeting recipes with only 140 characters.  They call it Twitter Cuisine, according to The Globe.

Yes,  now you ask yourself how in the world can people actually be able to post a whole recipe in just 140 characters, and guess what it is being accomplished.  Now don’t get me wrong all the recipes are done in shorthand and abbreviations so for those of you who are unfamiliar with some them it can be quite difficult to decipher.

 

Here is a guide for Twitter recipe shorthand:

C = cup

T = tablespoon

t = teaspoon

ch = chopped

S&P = salt and pepper

parm = Parmesan cheese

w cream = whipping cream

v oil = vegetable oil

o oil = olive oil

evo = extra virgin olive oil

Here are some examples tweet recipes:

Curry Chicken Thighs: 2T Indian curry paste, 2T v oil, 2t ginger, 2t garlic. Brush over chkn thighs. Roast 425 for 20 to 25 min.

MacNCheese: 1 pkg penne cooked. Add ½C w cream, 1½C milk, 3C mixed grated cheddar, parm, goat. S&P. Cover/bake 350 20min. Uncover 20min.

Apple Crisp: 6 sliced app, ¼C sugar, 1T lem juice in dish. Top: mix 2/3C each flour, granola, butter & 1/3C sugar. Bake 350 45 mins-1 hr.
