For a new version of a BLT replace bacon with pancetta and arugula for lettuce.  Add juicy in season tomatoes and a creamy Italian cheese, called burrata.  Look for this creamy sensation in supermarkets, specialty food stores, Italian markets, or cheese shops.

Once you have all your ingredients and create this ensemble be ready to enjoy a scrumptious BLT sandwich you won’t want to finish. Read the rest of this entry »

What is it about bacon that makes a grown man just fall on to their knees.  It’s as if the smoky smell lifts them straight out of their soft warm bed and brings them to their hands and knees in crawling positions straight into the kitchen where they hope for the chance to snag pieces of Juicy Strips of Succulent Crispy Cooked BACON off the stove.

Oh Sorry! I was getting ahead of myself, let me wipe the drool off my laptop as we speak.

But for real guys… Is it that serious?!

HELL YEAH it is! 🙂

Now let me ask you this do you find Pancetta and Prosciutto to have that same affect…

Why not?  Doesn’t it all come from the same sweet tasting pork belly part of the pig?

Dang I did it again, I started dreaming of bacon!

Although these three look alike, taste similar and are used in replace for one another, they are in deed very different.  If your not sure why or how then.

Ssshhhhhhhh, step closer….

a little closer……..

(Ok! a little too close)…..

Let me tell you!

Lets start off with my favorite, I uhhhh mean your favorite, Bacon. 😉

Labor Day Round Up

7 Sep 2009 In: Food Buzz

Labor Day has arrived!

This holiday truly marks the end of summer by giving all of those a day off of work, which to the majority of us is a blessing.

It’s a day where friends and family join together in BBQ madness, parades, and celebrations.

It’s a day where moms and dads cruise around shopping Labor Day sales.

But really though, what is Labor Day? and why do we celebrate it?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the first Labor Day was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City as the idea of a labor movement. In 1884, the first Monday in September was chosen as the official date to celebrate this “workingmen’s holiday.”

So if your at home firing up the grill, deciding on whether you should make those succulent cuts of steak, burgers, or chicken kabobs, make sure to remember something sweet to satisfy that sweet tooth.

One last thing is to never forget something cool and refreshing to top off your day!

So although Labor Day marks the end of summer, it means that stores are getting ready to unleash their inner gobblins…

Let’s get ready for trick-or-treating and lots of candy !

No Beef In Julia Child’s Kitchen

3 Sep 2009 In: Food Buzz

Picture this…

The oh so infamous Julia Child walking into her widely used French inspired Cambridge home coming to find that it is occupied now by a vegetarian animal-rights activist.

That is kinda funny, come to think of it!

Ever since the release of “Julie and Julia,” the house and homeowners, Lisa Landsverk, have been besieged by tourists and snapping photos of the Cambridge home and leaving their love of butter (Julia’s favorite ingredient) on the fences in honor of Julia.

“It’s a bit ironic,’’ Landsverk said, in an understatement… especially since she does not find herself to be a foodie of any sort.

Ugly Food Tattoos…. Not Cute At All!

3 Sep 2009 In: Food Buzz

As I was browsing Serious Eats I cam across a post where they had “25 Ugly Food Tatoos,” and I was intrigued to see what people really put on their bodies.

I understand the whole “needing to express oneself” mumbo jumbo and I can apreciate tattoos that are done well… but these next 25 definitely DO NOT make the list.
