New Year, Better You!

4 Jan 2015 In: Thoughts

new-year-better-you

As I sit here after having two weeks off of work, spending time with my kiddies and just taking 2014 all in I realize that each and every year I make such a huge deal with resolutions and what I need to change or fix.

You all know what I mean, “I need to lose weight, I need to be more active, I need to make more money, I nee to spend more time with my family, I want to strengthen my faith…”  the list is pretty endless actually.

Today in church one of our pastors spoke about how a “New Year” so many want a “New You”.  One of the most important things we fail to realize is that it’s not a New You we should be worrying about… We should really want to better ourselves not change who we are.  Allow yourself to leave all the baggage, pain, whatever you felt was holding you down or back in 2014 and look ahead to 2015 to being reborn.

One of the passages that was shared this morning was:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”                             – 2 Corinthians 5:17

To 2015, may it be filled with laughter, love & life!

You see Juju plays soccer and its pretty much year round.

Now I can admit he definitely has had a few weeks off at the beginning of the summer to just veg out but now he’s back in the swing of things with practices through out the week and games on the weekends.  This just so happens that when games are early in the morning on a Saturday Mommy dearest needs her morning juice… aka COFFEE!

Now there are those whom like their coffee just black with nothing added to it.  Now in my opinion that’s kinda boring and dull.  Now in these parts we are far from boring and dull…

Mama loves some Coffee-mate creamer with her coffee, or what my sister-in-law likes to say is “you want a little coffee with all that creamer?”

Mmmmm creamer…… Read the rest of this entry »

WINNERS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN.  CONGRATS TO

Picture 2 Picture 3

This summer has been H.O.T… HOT!!!

I mean I understand I live in Florida and this weather has been a little cooky, I mean its so hot during the day you you could probably boil an egg outside and then in the afternoon early evening it rains… I know, cooky.

During the summer we take so much advantage of going to the pool or the beach, and just lounging by the water.  Especially in this heat we have been cooling off in every possible.  We always invite our neighbors and friends to join us, I mean we all have kids the same age and plus us mom’s need some girl time also…

When hanging by the pool we spend a couple of hours together so we always pack a picnic lunch I mean these  kids eat non-stop during the summer. You know, you agree with me… So when I was asked to sample these new Starburst™ Sorbet Bars I was all on it.  I mean who as a child didn’t like Starburst the candy, and now in frozen form, it was a no brainer.

Red Velvet Pizookie

Red Velvet Pizookie

Have you ever wondered who was the first person to think of combining the makings of a pie + a cookie???

I know this crazy combo created the delicious and sinful dessert we all know as the PIZZOKIE.

Now you know around these parts we are serious fans of cookies, and pies, and desserts, and pretty much anything sweet.  And we can’t forget my obsession with all things red velvet… I’ve shared with you all my delicious creations of a Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie (which is just like a pizookie), but now I stepped it up a notch… RED VELVET PIZOOKIE with not only chocolate chips, but white chocolate chips too.

Red Velvet Pizookie 3

You can stop drooling now!!!! 🙂 This red velvet pizookie can be made in less than 30 minutes and enjoyed and devoured in less than 5.  Serve right out the oven with scoops of vanilla ice cream and see if you don’t get kids who live down the block knocking on your door for a slice. Support the Great American Milk Drive

I don’t know about you all but in this house we drink a whole lot of milk.

Did you know that 1 out of every six families in the US struggle with keeping food on the table for their families and that 1 in 5 Central Floridians struggle with hunger each day.  I know for many of us we get so per-occupied with our own lives that we forget about others who are truly struggling out there… even in our own backyard.

Food banks nationwide are trying to help.  Second Harvest Food Bank is one of these local organizations that are trying to help those families in need. Through their distribution of food in to more than 500 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties, people who are in need of  just a little help are given food they need for themselves and their children.  Unfortunately, the one thing needed is Milk!

This year, FlBlogCon has partnered with the Florida Dairy Farmers to spread word about the Great American Milk Drive, to help raise awareness and funds for the single most requested food staple: milk.

I remember as a child every 4th of July we would always spend the day by the pool, with family and friends, fireworks and always lots and lots of Food! This year we were invited to potluck block party in our neighborhood, or what we like to call “the hood,”  trust me if you saw the amount of kids that lived in this neighborhood you would be amazed.  The kids are so excited to hangout and just act crazy with each other and we are just thankful for having great neighbors.

Cakey Donut Holes

9 Jun 2014 In: Recipes

cakey donut holes

Donut holes are the perfect bite size treat that I can just pop in my mouth.  I mean who doesn’t love donut holes!?!

The bad thing though is that because they are so small I find myself making up excuses as to why I can eat so many of them…

“Their so small another one won’t kill me!”

Does any of that sound familiar… 🙂

IMG_1794

These cakey donut holes have the consistency of cake, hence the name and then they topped off with a sweet confection sugar glaze.  I think the glaze has got to be one of my favorite things… just be aware, fingers will be licked!

Now don’t get me wrong I am still a lover of soft pillowy donuts that melt in your mouth, but these cakey donut were tasty to try out and the kids loved them… but I’m starting to think these kids will eat anything that’s sweet.
