According to The New York Times, two NYC Costco locations one in Astoria, Queens, and the other in Sunset Park, Brooklyn will start to accept food stamps on a trial basis starting next month.

“If the experimental program shows there is sufficient demand by food stamp users, and if it does not harm efficiency, the company said, it will begin accepting food stamps at all of its New York City stores, including a new one that is planned for East Harlem.”

These The two stores were selected because of the high numbers of food stamp recipients in the surrounding areas.  Just recently Costco had gained criticism being one of the largest retailers to not accept food stamps.  Even Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Wal-Mart all accept food stamps.  Wow, I had no idea about those guys accepting food stamps, did you?

Odd – Measuring Spoons

Have you ever wondered exactly how much a pinch is? Or what about 2/3 of a teaspoon?

Now I know the majority of us have a measuring spoons already in our kitchen, but what about the tricky measurements that are sometimes asked in recipes.  I am always asked exactly how much these measurements are and how do I know if I am using the right amount.  Well after a lot of practice I just kinda figure it out but for those that have these troubles is when Odd-Measuring Spoons come in handy.

Here is a set of five-odd shaped measuring spoons which includes tools to measure a “pinch,” 1/8 Tsp., 2/3 Tsp., 1½ Tsp, and 2 Tsp.

The fifth season of The Next Food Network Star kicked off last night on television with ten wanna be chefs all gunning for that one premiere slot on Food Network.  All of these contestants though seem to be very talented and determined to win.  All of the contestants were sent for quick introductions amongst eachother then divided into two teams at the Butter Restaurant, in Manhattan, which threw them into the challenge of cooking for 75 guests at Food Network’s “Sweet Sixteen” party.

The teams are tasked to create and serve delicious dishes that they come up with on their own.  Amongst some of the fabulous all known Food Network stars are Giada De Laurentiis, Alton Brown, Duff Goldman, Sunny Anderson and Masaharu Morimoto, and also Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell.

Burger King Adds Pork Ribs to Menu

At last week’s World Pork Expo, Burger King announced that they will be starting to offer “Fire Grilled Ribs” as one of their menu options.  This offer will only be offered in four different markets and hopes to expand by next year.

Burger King will test these ribs in 300 of its stores in Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Greensboro, NC., and Orlando, FL.  These fire grilled St. Louis style ribs will be portioned into 2-inch pieces, offered in three-, six-, or eight-piece servings, and served with a dipping sauce.

Happy National Doughnut Day!

Guess what today is guys…. its National Doughnut Day!!!!!!

How Yummy does that sound? It’s like music to my ears 🙂

Who can really resist a right out of the oven fresh sweet smelling doughnut… I know I can’t and neither can my kiddies.

In honor of this big day, Dunkin Donuts is giving a bonus doughnut with the purchase of a drink.  Krispy Kreme is giving a free one per customer.

So, you may be wondering what on earth is going on with ThatsSoYummy these days?

I’ll tell you…. ThatsSoYummy is moving, well technically I am moving 🙂 

To sunny Orlando to open up a family restaurant, more of that great news to come so stay tuned…. So because of this crazy stressful move that is taking place I have not had time to fully sit down and post yummy posts like usual.

I hope you all can forgive me at this crazy time in my life right now, packing and moving you whole family is ALOT of work!

So I ask that you guys give me at most two weeks to gather my bearings and not feel like a chicken with her head cut off that is running all over the place.

I promise when I get settled I’ll be back on it with a vengeance…. so don’t get used to not hearing from me before you know it I’ll be popping back up and giving you all yummy updates…. so stay tuned and keep your eyes open!

Now, I think we all have found ourselves in this little predicament of not knowing what to do with that left over baguette, or brioche.

In case some of you have ran into this problem here are a few ideas you can use to solve it.
