Happy Hour: Maloney’s Irish Cream

20 Mar 2009 In: Recipes

In honor of the St. Patrick’s Day, that just passed us this week I wanted to give you all a cocktail that can be drunk anytime no matter what holiday.  This was designed by Toby Maloney, head bartender at Chicago’s The Violet Hour.    He combines Irish whiskey, whipping cream, and demerara simple syrup. Then he adds a bit of smoky Scotch (for the “smell of a merrily crackling fire,” he says)  He calls it Maloney’s Irish Cream.

Mac and Cheese Surprise

cauliflowerSo that started my search for new, yummy recipes for kids.  I came across this Mac and Cheese by Rachel Ray.  I said ok, Mac and Cheese… “What’s the catch?”  Then I kept on reading the ingredients and saw it.  There it was in big letters …. Cauliflower.

What’s Your Cooking Personality?

19 Mar 2009 In: Polls

In this downward economic climate we are all living in there is no wonder why people are turning more to home cooked meals than eating out in restaurants.

According to Food and Wine Magazine, “home cooking is the hottest food trend of 2009,” and the market-research firm Information Resources says “that supermarket shoppers are cooking more from scratch and spending more on basic cooking ingredients than on convenient but costly frozen and refrigerated foods.”
