Ever just want to have an easy go-to recipe in your kitchen when you are
craving something sweet.
I know I do, nothing is better then short and sweet sometimes….
Especially on that very morning when you wake up and say to yourself, “I
want to make something sweet and special for my kids to show them I
love them so much!”
Thats what I said when I woke up the other day and knew that I wanted to make a dessert that my children would love (to worship the ground I walk on). So… I went to he drawing board and looked and looked and looked.
I had always been told to try Oreo pie but I just never did… for some reason or another I always made excuses for not trying this recipe. You would think for someone who grew up eating oreo cookies I would jump on a recipe that pretty much the majority of the recipe contains many, many, many oreo cookies. 🙂
But not only does it have oodles and oodles of cookies I also made homemade whipping cream, that just set it from the rest of it all.
So, I rolled up my sleeves, got my ingredients, and jumped right in e and said to myself… “this is so easy, let’s try it…. and I did!”
You won’t be disappointed.
You too can dive right in… so Get Ready, Get Set, and Dive In!
Start by getting all 5 of your ingredients together and definitely make
your own whipped cream, the fresher the better!
I used an already made oreo pie crust, easy as pie.
Then I combined, in a medium bowl, the cream cheese and sugar… Beat until light and fluffy with a hand mixer,
Smash up 12 of the Oreo cookies…
Start smashing… if you have any frustration for the day this is a definite frustration release exercise you should be doing.
this might not look like much right now, but in a few minutes it will totally be combined with yumminess… YAY!
Add in the whipped cream and the smashed up Oreo cookies… Then use a rubber spatula and combine gently until well blended and the cookies are distributed throughout.
Spoon into the Oreo pie crust and refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
Cut 4 Oreo cookies in half and place the halves, cut side down, or you can just add the whole cookies and press down, around a dollop of whipped cream placed in the center and dusted with Oreo cookie crumbs.
Stop drooling! 😉
Note: the 2 cups of whipped cream is not the same as whipping cream. For this recipe the cream should be whipped. Use either freshly whipped cream or Reddi-Whip or Cool Whip or similar… But the cream is to be whipped, not liquid.
Oreo Pie
(adapted from Kraft)
1 Oreo Pie Crust
12 Oreo cookies
8oz Cream Cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups whipped cream (homemade is better)
In a small bowl, smash up 12 of the Oreo cookies… Set aside.
In a medium bowl using a hand mixer, combine the cream cheese and sugar… Beat until light and fluffy.
Add in the whipped cream and the smashed up Oreo cookies… Then use a rubber spatula and combine gently until well blended and the cookies are distributed throughout.
Spoon into the Oreo pie crust and refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
Optional garnish… Cut 4 Oreo cookies in half and place the halves, cut side down, around a dollop of whipped cream placed in the center and dusted with Oreo cookie
ENJOY!!!!
