I think now a days it is very easy for parents to always feel as if their days are getting shorter and tasks are getting longer. To feel as if rushing is the only option to get food on the table for the kids and family.
I know this because I used to be this!
I remember rushing home after work and picking my kids up from school and then feeling as if I had to rush through preparing dinner just so that the kids could eat well, finish homework, bathe and then go to bed. Adding to that was knowing that it would all have to be done the following day.
I think at this time in my life I was forgetting that cooking for my family and especially with my children was one of my favorite times and that I was not taking the time to just STOP, BREATHE, and SHARE with them.
I know for me, both my children love to help in the kitchen, especially my daughter. She loves getting her hands dirty and preparing meals. I feel blessed that I am allowed the chance to be that creative force in her life especially in the kitchen like my mother and grandmothers were.
I ask you now… to try not to be scared away from inviting your little ones into the kitchen…
Yes!
There will be messes….
Yes!
There will be ingredients and flour and such on the floor…
But…..
There will be Smiles, Excitement, and Creativity bursting out from your little one which will automatically make YOU smile!

I love this post. I 100% stand behind kids in the kitchen because I think it leads to healthy habits and more adventurous palates. Not to mention the likely development of a lifetime love of cooking! I can’t make it to Blogalicious this weekend but look for my colleague Jessica Braun!

I love this picture and this article. Cooking with children makes it fun but it can become messy. =) But its all worth it in the end.

[…] Next is rolling time, you really don’t need to roll it out but my princess wanted it to be thin so we busted out with the rolling pin. You see even they can be a master in the kitchen. […]
