Yesterday as I was speaking to my grandmother over the phone, I started reminiscing on one of the very first recipes she ever taught me…. her famous Banana Bread.
I remember being in the kitchen with her and just watching her mix all the ingredients and I knew I wanted to do what she was doing, she was creating art.
Of course at that time anything that I could eat was Art. 🙂
I think she too knew that I would someday grow up loving to cook and fostered that as I grew up. Here is my Grandma’s Banana Bread Recipe, I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do.
The Ingredients are:Â ripe bananas, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, egg.
Beat 1 stick of unsalted butter, softened at room temperature and 1 cup of granulated sugar together.
Add 1 egg to the sugar and butter mixture…
Add 3 ripened bananas mashed up…
Mix well …
Next add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, dash of salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Mix all of these together until well blended.
Add 1/2 cup of milk and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix mixture well.
Butter a 9×5 inch loaf pan and dust w flour until the whole pan is covered.
Pour the batter in the loaf pan. Place in a 350 degrees oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Ummmmmmmm, Ummmmmmmm. That’s So Yummy!:-)
